The mission of Goal Zero: Indiana Drowning Prevention is to decrease drowning deaths in Indiana through education, prevention, and outreach.
The Indiana Drowning Prevention Corp was founded in 2026 by Bryan Fleck. Over the course of his career as a first responder, water rescuer, and scuba instructor, Bryan saw firsthand the inequities that contribute to preventable drowning deaths in Indiana. Goal Zero reflects the organization’s belief that one drowning is too many.
In 2024, Bryan met Mel Goldstein and partnered with the Indy Aquatic Masters swim club. Since 2023, Bryan has also served as a scuba instructor with Sea Scope Inc., where he has observed the racial and socioeconomic barriers that often limit access to swimming skills and water safety education. The Indiana Drowning Prevention Corp was born from these experiences and partnerships, and from a clear commitment to saving lives through education, prevention, and outreach.
